I base my submission firmly on case law which is cited in the Works Cited section of this document. I do not go into any more detail on that because I am aware of the volume of material that you must consider, and of the short period of time that you can address individual submissions.
The salient point is that everything I state below is backed by cited Privy Council rulings. (Click on pictures to get a bigger view)

ACT list selection process
I am posting this as follow up to a comment on my previous post to do with democratically based list selection.
The text below is a document that I submitted through the rules committee of the ACT party to the Board in November last year.
The rules committee motion recommends:
- That the Board convene a working group to consider the proposal
- That if possible the proposal be scheduled at the conference for discussion
- That the working group or the conference or both could convene a focus group of, say, 50, randomly selected members, to provide input to the discussions.
The motion was adopted by the Board. Bruce Haycock was detailed implement the steps in the motion.
No working group was ever convened. After protest a last minute break out session was held at the Conference earlier this year. No poll was taken of the group and no other activity occurred.

Expulsion ACT III - Do they even have the numbers?
When the discussion about replacing Rodney was leaked to the press in November 09, much derision was heaped upon the so-called 'plotters' on the grounds that they couldn't count on their fingers.
You would think that if the ACT board was going to roll a member they might also first of all count on their fingers.

Expulsion ACT II
I am challenging the legitimacy of the emergency meeting called to consider my expulsion. This message sent today.

Musing on political parties
What would a political party look like that...?
- Chose its party list through Board recommendation, and binding members’ preference vote, not the other way around.
- Published all minutes of the Board of trustees, unless the Board,

ACT standing by it's principles again.
There is a post on the ACT facebook page advertising the party's stance on The Marine and Coastal Area (Takutai Moana) Bill. The post says that:
The Marine and Coastal Area (Takutai Moana) Bill will potentially
- take away your right of free access to large portions of NZ beach and
- transfer billions of dollars worth of minerals from the government to a few select iwi to the detriment of all remaining New Zealander’s. The value of oil will also be effectively transferred.
For the second time the beadle in charge of the ACT page has quietly removed my commentfrom their post.

Learn from the master
There are people in the ACT party, believe it or not, who regard Rodney Hide's ability to instantly use a very precise truth to tell a lie as being one of his greatest attributes. I kid you not.
Below is the Hansard record of one such occasion. Rodney is responding to allegations that he went went running to Wayne Mapp with slanderous statements to do with drug use, a allegation that Wayne Mapp confirmed as being true in this article.
See the master of deception at work.

Key refuses to be used
Last year when I first raised the issue of Rodney Hide's suitability as leader, someone in Hide's office, probably Brian since it is usually him, leaked** the idea that John Key privately indicated that National's deal with ACT would be off without Rodney.

Item deleted
The post that I had here on David Garrett's affidavit has been deleted.
I've done so because on consideration I don't know that anything has actually been proven.
I will leave the final paragraphs though.
...snip...
He's been set up in this by Rodney Hide, and he is still being set up. Hide's aversion to David doing the honorable thing does not have David Garrett's best interests at heart. It's all patch protection for Rodney.
It's a shame. David Garrett certainly has his issues, but it's not his fault he's been placed in this position.

More highhandedness
Below is a press release I made today. No doubt I'll get more personal insults for beating up on the ACT leadership.
I hope the thinking part of the ACT party membership is beginning to understand. It's not about Rodney. It is about his long term ingrained behavioral characteristics, which time and again drag the party down.
